In recent days, dozens of citizens in Iran have been summoned and detained by the Cyber Police (known as “FATA”) solely because they shared their personal feelings about the death of Reisi on their Instagram and social media accounts.
According to the report from Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM), citing IRNA, following the publication of posts related to the death of Raisi, the head of the Cyber Police in Iran announced the initiation of legal proceedings against 35 citizens and their summoning to judicial authorities. Furthermore, in Kerman Province alone, the prosecutor of the province has announced the summoning of eight citizens to judicial authorities following the publication of posts related to the death of Raisi.
In addition to summoning, several Iranian citizens have also been arrested. The head of the Cyber Police in West Tehran Province announced the summoning and arrest of a Tehran citizen for “publishing insulting content” on their Instagram page. Ali Reihani Kajvar, a citizen from Tabriz, was arrested and transferred to Tabriz Prison following his reaction and the publication of posts related to the death of Raisi.
Arsalan Nik, a resident of Lahijan, was summoned by the Intelligence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and after visiting this institution, he was detained. Maryam Dolatabadi, a resident of Sabzevar, who was arrested for publishing posts related to the helicopter crash involving Raisi, is still in detention despite four days having passed, and her family is unaware of her current condition. Additionally, according to Mehr News Agency, the State Security Force of Golestan Province announced the arrest of two citizens in the province for “publishing insulting content.”
Mohammad Ardeshir Khamoushi, a resident of Bakhsharz, was summoned to the Intelligence Office of this city on May 22, 2024. Manijeh Mouzeh, a translator and journalist, faced the opening of a legal case at the Culture and Media Court.
According to the statistics announced by the Iranian Cyber Police in recent days, 53 individuals have been summoned and detained for publishing posts related to the death of Reisi. However, it should be noted that the Iranian judiciary often does not disclose arrests, and these detentions are carried out silently without news coverage. The actual number of arrests is likely much higher.
