By order of the authorities at Evin Prison, five political prisoners sentenced to death have been deprived of their right to make phone calls.
Five political prisoners sentenced to death—Akbar Daneshvarkar, Seyed Mohammad Taghavi, Babak Alipour, Pouya Ghobadi Bistouni, and Vahid Bani Amerian—have, since yesterday, been denied access to phone calls with their families by order of prison authorities.
A source close to the family of one of the prisoners has reported that, as of Sunday, April 20, 2025, the prison authorities blocked the phone and bank cards of Akbar Daneshvarkar, Seyed Mohammad Taghavi, Babak Alipour, Pouya Ghobadi, and Vahid Bani Amerian. As a result, these prisoners have been deprived of both telephone contact with their families and access to their personal financial resources.
This action is part of ongoing efforts by the authorities to forcibly transfer these individuals to Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. On Wednesday, April 16, prison officials attempted to transfer them, but the prisoners resisted and opposed the move.
