This 2018 report, prepared by the late Asma Jahangir for the UN Human Rights Council’s 37th session, provides a comprehensive overview of human rights concerns in Iran, as mandated by resolution 34/23. Jahangir’s report, shared with the Iranian government in January 2018, highlights critical issues including the high rate of executions, rights abuses against minorities, and the persecution of activists, journalists, and women. After Jahangir’s passing on February 11, 2018, Iran submitted comments on the report, which were made available to the Council. This document stands as Jahangir’s final contribution to documenting and urging reform on human rights practices in Iran.
