84th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 51 Prisons Across the Country

September 2, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the 84th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign will be held in 51 prisons across Iran. This week, a group of prisoners from Langaroud Prison in Qom have also joined this protest movement.

This week’s statement, marking the fortieth day since the execution of Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, once again emphasizes the inhumanity of these policies and states: “The widespread and merciless executions taking place every week in our country… are not only a blatant violation of fundamental human rights, but also evidence of the bloody repression of the people and the regime’s attempt to preserve its power by spreading fear and silencing the voices of freedom and justice.”

The full statement of the 84th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is as follows:

Langaroud Prison of Qom Joins the ‘No to Execution Tuesdays’ Campaign

We stand on the threshold of the fortieth day since the cowardly execution of Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani—two political prisoners who were executed, while even after 36 days their families and friends remain unaware of their burial sites. This inhumane conduct, which amounts to enforced disappearance and the torture of the victims’ families, is part of the systematic pattern of human rights violations and the denial of the rights of grieving families in Iran.

The widespread and brutal executions occurring weekly in our country-with the alarming figure of 39 executions in the past week, including 2 female prisoners, and 704 executions since the beginning of  Iranian year 1404 (March 21, 2025)-are not only a flagrant breach of fundamental human rights, but also clear evidence of the bloody repression of the people and the regime’s effort to maintain power through intimidation and the silencing of voices calling for freedom and justice.

Despite all of this, we believe that the place of the victims of such injustices is not in the soil of oblivion, but in the hearts of every free Iranian. Their blood still flows in the veins of the youth, and their path will continue to be a beacon of hope for a future free from executions and violence.

With the joining of a group of prisoners from Langaroud Prison in Qom in the 84th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, the number of prisons participating in this movement has risen to 51. This is yet another sign of the widespread resistance of prisoners and society against executions.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is determined to remain the voice of grieving families, prisoners, and all freedom-seeking people until the complete abolition of death sentences in Iran and the guarantee of respect for human rights and justice.

In conclusion, this campaign sincerely extends its condolences to the respected family of Mr. Vali Daneshvarkar-father of political prisoner Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, and one of the steadfast supporters of the campaign who played an active role in gatherings-for his passing, and to all the supporters and members of the campaign.
