118th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 56 Prisons Across Iran

April 28, 2026
FacebookTwitterEmail

Political prisoners in 56 different prisons across the country have gone on a hunger strike for the 118th consecutive week in protest against the recent wave of executions, torture, and violation of the dignity of detainees. Members of this campaign, while condemning the regime’s repressive policies under the title of a “war posture,” warned against the widespread violation of prisoners’ legal rights and the enforced disappearance of the bodies of those executed. Emphasizing the need for popular solidarity to confront these repressions, the striking prisoners have called on the international community and the UN Fact-Finding Mission to take immediate and serious action to stop the execution machine and to visit the prisons in Iran.

Please find the full text of the statement by the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign below:

We condemn the cruel and anti-human rights policies of the regime under the title of “war posture”.

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign in 56 different prisons in its 118th week.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, in its 118th week, expresses its sympathy with the families of recently executed prisoners and sends its greetings to the martyrs of the path of freedom and equality.

Over the past week, three political prisoners of the January 2026 uprising named Amir-Ali Mirjafari from Tehran, Erfan Kiani from Isfahan, and Amer Ramesh from Sistan and Baluchestan, were executed in an unfair judicial process, and the bodies of two of them were not handed over to their families. Undoubtedly, the policy of enforced disappearance adopted by the regime is an instance of a crime against humanity.

In another anti-human action, the regime hanged two other prisoners on charges of espionage, named Mehdi Farid and Soltan-Ali Shirzadi.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has recently been informed that in various prisons, political prisoners and recent detainees are recklessly subjected to beatings, torture, and violation of dignity. Torturers try to humiliate the prisoners by shaving their heads, using foul language, and insulting them. This shameless and inhumane behavior is significantly worse even when taking the prisoners to the gallows.

We are aware that the order from the senior officials of the ruling religious dictatorship based on a “war posture” has further opened the hands of the judiciary to violate the rights of the detainees of the January protests and the recent war, and this means ignoring all their legal rights and issuing heavy sentences for the prisoners without a fair and just trial.

The illegitimate Velayat-e Faqih regime, out of fear of uprisings and popular protests, by commandeering the alleys and streets of the cities and creating fear and terror in society, as well as through daily executions in prisons, has shown that it truly considers the people to be its main enemy, not any foreign country. Therefore, it is highly important and necessary that in these volatile and fateful days, the freedom-loving people of Iran and all activists and defenders of “No to Execution” do not remain silent in the face of the regime’s repression, and that they be the voice of the captives in prison and those sentenced to execution. Amidst the internet blackout in Iran, the international community and human rights organizations and institutions must also pay attention to this matter (repression and execution) more than ever and put pressure on the Iranian regime in any way possible, and the UN Fact-Finding Mission must take serious action to visit the detention centers, prisoners, and prisons in Iran.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, while condemning these anti-popular dictatorial policies, is on a hunger strike in its 118th week on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the 56 following prisons:

Evin Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison in Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison in Varamin, Choubindar Prison in Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langaroud Prison in Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison in Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Nezam Prison in Shiraz, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Firouzabad Prison in Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Kahnouj Prison, Tabas Prison, Birjand Central Prison, Mashhad Prison, Gorgan Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (Men’s and Women’s Wards), Rudsar Prison, Haviq Prison in Talesh, Azbaram Prison in Lahijan, Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Boukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, and Ilam Prison.
