Farid Barati Sade, director of the center for development, prevention, and treatment of addiction, pointed to the results of a research in which 1000 women from 22 different parts of Tehran were studied. According to the research 27% of women between 19 to 49 years old in Tehran were abused physically by their husbands.
He pointed out that 1.4% of these violent incidents had resulted in sever bruises and injuries. Verbal violence constituted 7.9%, and 5.4% were the result of sexual violence. The overall occurrence of violence among women in Tehran is around 5.5%. The prevalence of violence is 25 to 40% and emotional violence is between 50 to 60%. (ISNA News Agency – 29 October 2017).
