Mehrnaz Haghighi, physician and civil rights activist, was arrested in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas on Sunday night, February 19, 2017. She is kept in uncertain conditions and far from her family in Ward 209 of Tehran’s Evin Prison.
“After a few days after her arrest, Mehrnaz was transferred to ward 209 of Evin Prison when her interrogation came to an end, then she was taken to women’s ward,” according to a source close to the physician.
There is no information available about the reasons of her arrest.
It is worth noting that security forces referred to Ms. Haghigh’s residence and introduced themselves as patients, however, arrested and took her to an unknown location upon her arrival.
