Iran: Female athletes banned from participating in Olympics by husbands

A female Majlis representative said that according to reports given to the Women’s Majlis Fraction, eight female athletes had been banned from leaving the country by their husbands and would not be able to compete in the Olympics, the state-run Asre Iran website reported on October 9, 2017.
“Of course, there are other women who were not willing to give us their names and these eight women are only those who have come forward to register their names so that we could receive this report”, Tayebeh Siavoshi said.
