A revolutionary court in Tehran sentenced three labor rights activists to prison and lashes.
According to the verdict issued by Tehran’s Revolutinary Court, the three activists, Roham Yeganeh, Farid Lotfabadi and Hirad Pirbodaghi were each sentenced to six months in prison for “assembly and collusion against national security.”
In addition, Roham Yeganeh and Farid Lotfabadi were each sentenced to 74 lashes for “disrupting public order,” which have been suspended for four years.
The court held its session at branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on February 9, 2019.
The activists were arrested on August 3, 2019 while trying to attend the trial of six workers’ rights activists and journalists who were being prosecuted under national security charges that time for peacefully attending or covering protests at the Haft Tappeh sugar mill near the city of Shush, in Khuzestan Province.
They were released on bail on August 27, 2019 from Tehran’s Evin Prison.
