Inmate denied furlough to attend mother’s funeral
Political prisoner Sotudeh Fazeli has been denied a furlough to attend his mother’s funeral by state Prison Organization’s officials.
The retired teacher, 64 is serving a 3-year sentence in Tehran’s Evin Prison. She suffers from thalassemia and cancer, however, has been currently denied of specialized medical care.
Fazeli was verbally sentenced to three years behind bars on the charge of “measures threatening national security” however, had still not been shown her charge sheet.
Her brother, Seyed Shamsodin Fazeli was arrested in 1982 at the age of 20. After three years being kept in uncertain conditions, he was executed by firing squad.
