53 Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Company workers were summoned to Shush Justice Department
On August 5, 2017 and were forced to write a written pledge not to take part in any protests and strikes.
They were charged with “taking part in recent strikes” and “inciting workers”. They were also threatened that their protests consider as political activities and they will have to take the consequences. The workers were temporarily released on bail.
The Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Company Workers’ Syndicate in a statement condemned the fabricate charges being brought against all workers and other wage earners.
