The Head of Justice Department on August 21, 2017, announced the public execution of a young man in Nasirabad, in Isfahan Province, central Iran, according to the state-run ROKNA news agency.
The 25-year old victim who has not been identified by the state media, was found guilty of murder.
Another inmate was hanged on the same day on drug related charges in Isfahan Prison, central Iran.
The victim was identified as Abdolkarim Shahbakhsh. Having been on death row since four years ago, he was transferred to solitary confinement on August 19, 2017 in preparation of his execution.
Abdolkarim Shahbakhsh had been sentenced to death without any previous criminal record, according to an informed source. This execution has not been made public by the state media.
In yet another case, on August 13, 2017, a prisoner was hanged on drug-related charges in Kashmar Prison, in the northeastern Khorassan Province. He was identified as Mojtaba Heydari Abbasali.
