On November 28, a death row prisoner hanged himself in Hall 3, Section 1of Rajaie Shahr Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran. He was identified as 31-year-old Mohammed Lor. According to one of his friends, it was not clear why he was transferred to Section 1, where death row prisoners are hels.
There are no exact figures on the number of suicides in Rajai Shahr Prison, but according to this prisoner, 10 to 20 prisoners usually die as a result of suicide every year.
