The commander of state security forces in southwestern Abadan city said that 18 businesses have been sealed-off for not observing Islamic rituals and law.

The state-run IRNA news agency cited Colonel Seyyed Mohsen Taghizadeh as saying that the monitoring public places police of Abadan is going to implement a plan to ramp up control of businesses. The plan aims to intensify measures to control, monitor and prevent the activities of unlicensed businesses and deal with businesses which break the law.

The Iranian regime has been imposing its brand of Islam and lifestyle choices on Iranian citizens since it came into power 40 years ago and deems anything outside of this structure as “Western” and “unconventional”.

Iranian state-run media said on October28 that security forces arrested five shopkeepers and shut down 13 stores in Alborz province, northwest of the capital Tehran, for selling “unconventional clothing”.

According to the IRNA state-run News Agency, the head of the Alborz Tazir Organization said that the 13 shops were closed after inspections were carried out in 150 clothing stores in the province.

“Buying and selling clothes with Latin letters, signs and designs for Western music bands and groups and in general, clothing that conflicts with Islamic culture and values is banned in shops,” Ali Akbar Mokhtari added.

The official said that the five people were arrested for “spreading Western culture and selling clothes and symbols of Satanism”.

In another development the state-run Young Journalists Club (YJC) reported Saturday that the official institutions and bureaus that register marriage contracts based on ancient Aryan ceremonies and rites have been suspended, and sealed-off.

The state-run media cited the head of the Islamic Republic’s Union of Marriage and Divorce registration bureaus as saying that 34 such bureaus mainly located in the capital Tehran have been suspended.
