A Kurdish protester from Saqqez, Ismail Dezwar, was arrested and severely tortured by the intelligence services in Iran.

IRGC intelligence forces in plainclothes had taken Ismail Dezwar’s body to Shafa Hospital in Saqqez inside an ambulance at 11 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022.

One hospital staff mentioned that Ismail Dezwar died because of severe torture. Bruises on his body, especially bruises and fractures to his chest, were clearly visible.

According to the source, IRGC’s intelligence officers wanted the hospital authorities to indicate the cause of his death to be a car accident. This was discussed in a short meeting in the radiology hall of the hospital but strongly opposed by the hospital supervisor.

The supervisor had responded, this person was brought to the hospital without vital signs and in no circumstance can his death be caused by a car accident. The supervisor had made it clear the death would most certainly be indicated as of torture.

At 3 a.m., with the hospital staff rejecting the matter, the IRGC intelligence kidnapped Ismail Dezwar’s body from the hospital without permission and buried it at night with the assistance of fire brigade.

The intelligence services summoned and threatened Ismail Dezwar’s family to have them announce the cause of his death, a traffic accident. While under pressure, the obituary notice for Ismail was stated as a traffic accident.
