68th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 41 Prisons across Iran

May 13, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the sixty-eighth week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign will be held in 41 prisons across the country.
This week, the prisoners’ statement, referring to the death sentences of two political prisoners and the execution of at least four individuals daily since the beginning of Ordibehesht (April 21, 2025), warned of the “acceleration of executions” and emphasized:
“In every corner of this land, the flag of resistance to executions must be raised, and the voice of protest must be heard loud and clear.”

The full text of the prisoners’ statement participating in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is as follows:

Death Sentences for Two Political Prisoners

According to published reports, the issuance and enforcement of death sentences by the courts of the Velayat-e Faqih regime continue without pause. Since the beginning of Ordibehesht (April 21, 2025), more than 96 prisoners, including one woman, have been executed—an average of at least four people hanged per day.

In recent days, Amin (Peyman) Farahavar Gisavandani, a poet and political prisoner from Gilan, has been sentenced to death by Judge Ahmad Darvish-Goftar on charges of baghi (armed rebellion) and moharebeh (enmity against God). Likewise, Ehsan Faridi, a student at the University of Tabriz, has been sentenced to death by Branch 2 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court on charges of moharebeh. It is important to note that these inhumane verdicts were issued without the prisoners having access to legal representation of their own choosing.

We call on human rights organizations and opponents of the death penalty to expose the identities of the judges involved in issuing such verdicts and to file complaints against them with independent human rights bodies.

At a time when the regime is incapable of resolving its internal and external crises, the pace of executions has intensified. Confronting executions in this context is an urgent and undeniable necessity. In every corner of this land, the flag of resistance to executions must be raised, and the voice of protest must be heard. We must not allow this criminal regime to take the lives of citizens with impunity.
Freedom is the right of a nation that has paid a heavy price for decades in its pursuit of liberty, equality, and democracy.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, while commemorating the memory of Barzan Mohammadi, a former political prisoner and supporter of this campaign who tragically lost his life in a devastating accident, extends its condolences to his family and all campaign participants.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign will be on hunger strike for the sixty-eighth consecutive week on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, across 41 prisons in the country:

Prisons: Qezel-Hesar (Units 3 and 4), Evin (Women’s Ward, Wards 4 and 8), Karaj Central, Greater Tehran, Khorein Varamin, Choobindar Qazvin, Arak, Khorramabad, Asadabad Isfahan, Dastgerd Isfahan, Sheiban Ahvaz, Sepidar Ahvaz (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Nezam Shiraz, Adelabad Shiraz (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Zahedan (Women’s Ward), Borazjan, Ramhormoz, Behbahan, Bam, Kahnouj, Tabas, Mashhad, Gonbad-e Kavus, Qaemshahr, Rasht (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Rudsar, Haviq Talesh, Azbarom Lahijan, Dieselabad Kermanshah, Ardabil, Tabriz, Urmia, Salmas, Khoy, Naqadeh, Miandoab, Saqqez, Baneh, Marivan, Sanandaj, and Kamyaran.
