Two Prisoners Executed in Qom and Arak

Continuation of the Execution Wave in Iran: Two Prisoners Executed in Qom and Arak

In the latest round of executions carried out in Iran, two prisoners lost their lives in the prisons of Qom and Arak. These executions are taking place amid the government’s intensified security pressures, as it seeks to maintain control over society through intimidation and repression.

At dawn on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Azim Mohammadi was hanged in Qom Prison. He had been arrested four years earlier on charges of murder and was subsequently sentenced to death. No detailed information is available regarding his legal proceedings, the conditions of his detention, or whether he had access to an independent attorney.

Earlier, at dawn on Monday, June 23, 2025, Habib Soleimani was also executed in Arak Prison. He, too, had been charged with murder and sentenced to death. As in many similar cases, the judiciary refrained from releasing transparent information about the legal process.

With these two cases included, the number of recorded executions over the past Iranian month of Khordad—from May 22 to June 21—has reached at least 140. This figure averages nearly five executions per day. This rising trend constitutes a serious alarm for the international community and human rights advocates.
