On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign entered its seventy-eighth week, continuing this time with the participation of 48 prisons from across the country.
In this week’s statement, the prisoners, referring to at least 71 executions carried out in the month of Tir (June–July) alone and the intensifying pressure on members of the campaign, emphasized:
“Execution is not a path to justice, but a tool of intimidation.”
They have declared a hunger strike once again, demanding an immediate halt to executions, the respect of prisoners’ human rights, and an end to state violence.
The full statement of the seventy-eighth week of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign is as follows:
The “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign is Underway in 48 Prisons During Its Seventy-Eighth Week
The execution-driven regime has once again unleashed a wave of repression and violence against society—particularly targeting political prisoners. According to published reports, at least 71 executions were carried out during the month of Tir (June 21 – July 21), based on unfair trials and forced confessions, sending individuals to the gallows without due process.
Alongside this wave of executions, intensified pressure has been exerted on political activists and detained members of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign. Threats, torture, exile, arrests, and the summoning of families of campaign members, along with deprivation of basic rights, are only part of the systematic repression aimed at silencing the protesting voices of society.
Moreover, by opening direct fire on civilians, the regime exposes its true anti-people nature. The shooting of a young child, Raha Sheikhi, is just one small example of these atrocities.
The regime’s goal behind these unrelenting acts of violence is to instill fear and force society into silence. Yet, despite all the pressure, people continue to insist on their legitimate demands for justice, freedom, human dignity, and the right to self-determination.
Members of the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign wholeheartedly condemn this inhuman and oppressive wave of executions and repression of prisoners. Execution is not a path to justice, but a tool of intimidation. We once again affirm that no government has the right to take a human life, especially in conditions where there is no fair trial and the fundamental rights of the accused are openly and systematically violated.
Our voice is the cry of “No to Execution”—a voice that will grow louder and more resonant every Tuesday, until the day executions are permanently abolished in Iran.
