81st Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 49 Prisons Across Iran

August 12, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the 81st week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign takes place amid an unprecedented surge in executions in Iran. On August 6 alone, 20 people were hanged, and since July 23 (the beginning of the Iranian month of Mordad), more than 110 people have been executed.

In this week’s statement, the prisoners, referring to the abduction and transfer of five political prisoners sentenced to death to Qezel Hesar Prison and the mortal danger facing Baloch prisoners, they have called on all Iranians and freedom-loving people around the world to condemn the execution and support the No to Executions campaign in Iran, and  emphasized: “Only through uprising and resistance, courage, and a loud collective voice can this cycle of death be ended.”

The full text of the statement for the 81st week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is as follows:

Hunger Strike of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in the 81st Week in 49 Different Prisons

While executions and repression in Iran have intensified, and following the transfer of political prisoners from Greater Tehran Prison to Evin Prison, we are witnessing the sudden abduction of five political prisoners previously sentenced to death — Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Babak Alipour, Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvarkar, and Mohammad Taghavi — to Qhezel Hesar Prison, an act strongly condemned by Amnesty International.

In addition, two security-related prisoners, Babak Shahbazi and Omid Tabari Moghadam, were also transferred to Qezel Hesar Prison after being beaten. This repressive measure is part of the escalating pressure on political prisoners and the unprecedented increase in the implementation of death sentences in the country.

According to reports, a Baloch political prisoner named Amer Paraki Balochzehi has been moved to solitary confinement in Zahedan Prison for the implementation of his death sentence, and his life is in grave danger. On August 6 alone, 20 individuals were hanged. Even more shocking is that since July 23, more than 110 people have been executed in Iran.

Yet in the face of this wave of executions, the resistance of prisoners and the people continues. The shopkeepers and brave people of the city of Semirom shut down their markets and shops to protest the death sentences of two brothers, Fazel and Mehran Bahramian, making their voices of protest heard by all.

We call on all families of prisoners sentenced to death:

  1. Do not hide the issuance of death sentences for your children and relatives — publicize them widely.
  2. Gather in public places and raise your voices against these inhumane sentences.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign calls on all people of Iran and the world to stand with these families and to rise up against the machinery of execution in Iran by every means and tool available. Only through uprising and resistance, courage, and a loud collective voice can this cycle of death be ended.

In the 81st week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, members of the campaign will go on hunger strike on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in the following 49 prisons:
Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 3 and 4), Evin Prison, Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison in Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorrin Prison in Varamin, Choobindar Prison in Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison in Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz (women’s and men’s wards), Nezam Prison, Shiraz, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz (women’s and men’s wards), Firuzabad Prison in Fars, Zahedan Prison (women’s ward), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison, Kahnooj Prison, Tabas Prison, Mashhad Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Roudsar Prison, Haviq Prison in Talesh, Ezbaram Prison in Lahijan, Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Boukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, and Kamyaran Prison.
