On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the 98th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is being held in 55 prisons throughout the country, coinciding with the suspicious death of Khosrow Alikordi, a justice-seeking lawyer and an ally of the campaign, and the issuance of a death sentence for political prisoner Karim Khojasteh. In this week’s statement, the striking prisoners, noting the high number of executions—including more than 200 between November 22 and December 8—have stressed that this trend constitutes an “organized crime and a systematic violation of the right to life” aimed at suppressing society.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Continues for its 98th Week in 55 Different Prisons
Death Sentence Issued for Political Prisoner Karim Khojasteh and the Suspicious Death of Khosrow Alikordi
This week, one of the most committed justice-seeking lawyers, Khosrow Alikordi—an ally of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, counsel for those arrested during the 2022 nationwide protests, and a refuge for justice-seeking families—passed away under suspicious circumstances. We offer our heartfelt condolences for this great loss to the community of freedom-seeking lawyers, to all who seek justice, and to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Today, the issue of execution in Iran is not a punishment, but rather an organized crime and a systematic violation of the right to life.
In the past few days, political prisoner Karim Khojasteh was notified of his death sentence in Lakan Prison, Rasht. According to published data, 95 people, including 2 women, have been executed this week alone. Between November 22 and December 8, more than 200 executions have been recorded; the sole purpose of which is to suppress society and block popular uprisings and movements.
