The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has continued into its 102nd week as the year 2026 begins, with prisoners in 55 prisons across the country launching a hunger strike. According to the campaign’s statement, the Iranian government executed over 2,200 people in 2025, at least 19 of whom were political and ideological prisoners. Since the beginning of the Persian month of Dey (late December) alone, 167 people, including one woman, have been executed.
This week, the issuance of a death sentence for political prisoner Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz, has intensified concerns for the lives of political prisoners.
Expressing solidarity with the nationwide protests and strikes by the people of Iran, campaign members stated that the primary goal of these struggles is to end the autocratic government and achieve freedom, equality, and democracy. They emphasized that suppression, arrests, and violence will not hinder the continuation of these protests.

“No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign Continues for its 102nd Week in 55 Different Prisons
We mark the 102nd week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign as we enter the year 2026. In the past year alone [2025], the regime has hanged over 2,200 of our fellow citizens, 19 of whom were political and ideological prisoners. This week, political prisoner Seyed Mohammad Mousavi from Shadegan was sentenced to death in Ahvaz’s Shiban Prison, adding his name to a list of dozens of other political prisoners whose lives are in grave danger.
Since the beginning of the month of Dey (December 21), the ruling religious fascist regime in Iran has also executed 167 people, including one woman.
We carry out our hunger strike this week as the people of Iran, for the tenth consecutive day, protest, rally, and strike against the catastrophic economic and political conditions. Their principal demand is the overthrow of this despotic regime-a regime that has oppressed the people and violated their lives for 47 years. We, the members of this campaign, salute and honor the memory of those who have fallen in this nationwide uprising. We declare our solidarity with the heroic and freedom-loving people and will stand with them until the very end. Neither the direct shooting of our youth, nor the arrest of students, nor the torture and forced confessions of protesters can silence the call for justice. Undoubtedly, after years of oppression under this dictatorship, the outcome of this struggle will be the realization of freedom, equality, and democracy for all Iranians.
