FacebookTwitterEmail

In the 138th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, political prisoners in 62 prisons across the country have gone on a hunger strike to protest the issuance and implementation of death sentences by the ruling regime. While condemning the new wave of executions and the suppression of protesters, this campaign has called upon international institutions and the UN Third Committee to take immediate and practical action to stop the execution machine in Iran. Emphasizing the continuation of their resistance until the realization of freedom, members of this campaign have warned of the danger of death sentences being issued for political prisoners and students.

The Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in its 138th Week in 62 Prisons Across the Country

The UN Third Committee Session must take immediate and effective action to stop executions in Iran

On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the 2022 nationwide protests, which began with the tragic murder of Zhina [Mahsa] Amini by the ruling dictatorship, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign pays tribute to all the martyrs of this uprising, especially the heroic women who played a leading role in these protests. The names of nearly 700 protesters who were killed by the Revolutionary Guards of this bloodthirsty regime have been published. We also salute our compatriots who have become fed up with the oppression and tyranny of the rulers and took to the streets to demand their rights and shouted for freedom. Despite brutal repression, these protests were not silenced; rather, like embers under ashes, they flared up in the January uprising of 2026 and still continue until the day they reach their final destination: freedom, equality, democracy, and the establishment of a popular sovereignty.

The medieval ruling regime, which considers its survival dependent on the suppression and execution of the people, has issued death sentences for a number of prisoners this week as well, and has savagely sent a number to the gallows. The number of those executed since the beginning of the month of Shahrivar (August 23) has been at least 61. According to reports received, Alireza Sepahi, one of the youths arrested in the January uprising and sentenced to death in the case known as “Alikhani Square,” has been transferred to solitary confinement. Furthermore, the appeal for the retrial of the political prisoner sentenced to death, Arghavan Fallahi, in Evin Prison has been rejected, and death sentences have been issued for two prisoners of the January 2026 protests named Marzieh (So’da) Ebrahimi in Bandar Abbas and Hossein Rasouli-Nasab in Mashhad.

In the same vein, the “Velayat-e Faqih” regime, in order to create fear and terror among students, has also issued an charge of “Baghi” (armed insurrection) against a student named Mohammad Parsa Golchin, who is at risk of being sentenced to death. Fearful of revolution, the regime issues these sentences to stifle the voice of the university-the bastion of freedom, equality, and resistance-on the eve of the start of the academic year.

In the current week, a number of compatriots abroad held gatherings in various cities, including Paris, Cologne, and London, on the occasion of the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide uprising, and supported the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign. On this same occasion, a gathering is scheduled to be held in front of the United Nations headquarters in Vienna on Tuesday, coinciding with the campaign members’ hunger strike. In the coming week, a call for a nationwide strike has been issued in Kurdistan for Wednesday, for which the regime, terrified of the uprising, has threatened shopkeepers in various cities, including Saqqez.

Mr. Javaid Rehman, the former UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, expressed his support for the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign in a stance against the executions.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign calls upon the UN Third Committee session, Ms. Mai Sato, and other UN rapporteurs in the current week, as well as all members, to condemn the widespread human rights violations, the suppression of the Iranian people, and the mass executions by the Iranian regime, and to provide a practical solution to stop the executions and the suppression of the Iranian people by the fascist regime. This campaign also calls upon all the people of Iran inside and outside the country to take a firm and practical stance against executions.

Members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign are on hunger strike on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the 138th week in the following 62 prisons:

Evin Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Central Prison of Karaj, Fardis Prison of Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison of Varamin, Chubin-dar Prison of Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langarud Prison of Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison of Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan, Sheyban Prison of Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz (women’s and men’s wards), Nezam Prison of Shiraz, Adel-Abad Prison of Shiraz (women’s and men’s wards), Firoozabad Prison of Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Central Prison of Birjand, Mashhad Prison, Gorgan Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Rudsar Prison, Havigh Talesh Prison, Azbarm Lahijan Prison, Dizel-Abad Prison of Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, Ilam Prison, Kerman Prison, Borujen Prison, Neyshabur Prison, Gachsaran Prison, Noor Prison, and Iranshahr Prison.
