In its 140th week, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign expanded to 66 prisons across the country with the joining of prisoners from Darreh Shahr in Ilam and Meshginshahr in Ardabil. In this protest action, the striking prisoners, while honoring the memory of those who fell for freedom at the beginning of the academic year, protested the escalating wave of executions, including the carrying out of at least 79 death sentences in the month of Shahrivar (August 23, 2026 – September 21, 2026). The campaign also warned against the issuance of new death sentences and the impending execution of nearly 200 political and ideological prisoners, emphasizing the continuation of hunger strikes and resistance to halt the killing machine.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign expanded to 66 prisons with the joining of the prisons of Darreh Shahr in Ilam Province and Meshginshahr in Ardabil Province
At the beginning of the new academic year, we honor the memory of all pupils, teachers, university students, and professors who have sacrificed their lives over the past four decades on the path of freedom and equality for Iran; particularly the pupils who lost their lives at the hands of the “Velayat-e Faqih” regime during the January 2026 uprising, and whose places are empty in the classrooms this year.
The executioner regime in Iran still does not cease its killings and takes the lives of our compatriots on the gallows daily. In the month of Shahrivar (August 23, 2026 – September 21, 2026) alone, this regime has taken the lives of at least 79 individuals, including 6 women and 10 Baluch compatriots. According to the latest news, a death sentence has also been issued for Ms. Mahboubeh Sha’bani, one of the detainees of the January 2026 uprising, in Mashhad Prison.
According to received information, nearly 200 political and ideological prisoners, many of whom are detainees of the nationwide January 2026 uprising, are under sentence of death; this situation reflects the naked suppression of the Iranian people by the religious fascist regime, which knows no bounds in repression, slaughter, and execution. In the face of these repressions, the resistance of the struggling prisoners, the members of the campaign, and its supporters in Iran and across the world continues.
According to information received, this week a group of prisoners from the prisons of Darreh Shahr in Ilam Province and Meshginshahr in Ardabil Province also joined this protest action. With the joining of these two prisons, the number of prisons participating in the campaign—where a group of their prisoners go on hunger strike every Tuesday-reached 66 prisons. The expansion of this campaign and the support for it demonstrate society’s deep hatred of execution as well as the illegitimacy of the regime and its judiciary; an apparatus that, with anti-human and medieval laws, issues death sentences in its kangaroo courts without granting even the minimal right to defense.
We, the members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, sincerely appreciate all companions and compatriots who have aided us in expanding and sustaining this movement and in echoing the voices of those condemned to death. To stop the execution machine and prevent further catastrophes, it is exceedingly vital that the voice of “No to Execution” becomes louder and more widespread than ever before. Every street and alley and every opportunity must be utilized to expose the crimes of this medieval regime, and practical steps must be taken to stop it.
