The arbitrary murder of a young boy outraged the people of Hamadan who attacked the SSF station, demanding the SSF to account for his murder.

The State Security forces shot dead a 13-year-old boy in a village in Hamadan. This arbitrary murder took place in Shirinabad village in Ghahavand county at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

The victim, Mohammad Reza Veissi, was riding a motorbike along with his father. They were heading towards their farm to water their crops, when the State Security Force of Ghahavand Station opened fire on them. They did so without an advance warning or calling them to stop.

The 13-year-old died while his father, Massihollah Veissi, suffered various injuries in different parts of his body.

Locals said the point where the SSF forces opened a barrage of fire on this father and son was a place where ancient antiques are buried. The SSF police were excavating the ground when they heard the sound of the motorbike and they hastily opened fire.

After publication of this news in the social media, the deputy Commander of the SSF in Hamadan sought to cover up the blunder. He told the press:

It had been several consecutive nights, that a few people using the dark of the night had been excavating the ground in Shirinabad, in Ghahavand county of Hamadan. They were searching for antiques. Following a complaint filed by the Office of Cultural Heritage and the request of the representative of this organization, the Ghahavand Station set out to examine this case.

Upon the order of the Judiciary, agents of Ghahavand Station went to the place along with a representative of the Cultural Heritage Organization. Those who were excavating the ground started running away when they saw the police and left behind some of their equipment.

The deputy SSF Commander of Hamadan said: The motor riders did not heed the police when they sounded the alarm siren and shot into the air, calling on them to stop. So, the police had to chase them, according to the law, they are allowed to use arms to stop them.

Due to darkness, and uneven path, the bullet struck one of them and the agents immediately took the wounded to the medical center of Ghahavand with the SSF vehicle. Unfortunately, the victim died due to severity of his wounds.

Iranian security forces and police have a history of killing civilians with impunity. Security forces routinely open fire on civilians in Sistan and Baluchestan in southeastern Iran and Kurd border porters in western Iran, killing and wounding them.
