in Condemnation of pressure on Saeed Masouri and in Support of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign
A group of political prisoners in Gilan Province have issued a statement strongly condemning the sudden and unjust decision to exile the political prisoner Saeed Masouri to Zahedan Prison. The statement reads:
“We, a group of political prisoners from Gilan Province, strongly condemn the sudden and unjust [sentence to] exile the political prisoner Saeed Masouri to Zahedan Prison.”
Saeed Masouri, who has been imprisoned for 25 years in various prisons without a single day of furlough, is now being subjected to the continuation of the regime’s security-based strategy of enforced disappearances, similar to the case of Ali Younesi…
This position underscores that Saeed Masouri’s exile is not an ordinary action, but rather part of a calculated state policy aimed at intensifying pressure on long-time and well-known political prisoners. Saeed Masouri, one of the longest-held political prisoners in Iran, has spent 25 years behind bars without ever receiving temporary leave. Now, he is being transferred to Zahedan Prison in a cruel and vindictive decision—a location so remote that his elderly family, who endured years of hardship to make brief weekly visits to Qezel Hesar Prison, will likely no longer be able to see him.
A Futile Attempt to Undermine the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign
The sentence to exile Saeed Masouri comes precisely at a time when the protest campaign “No to Execution Tuesdays”—ongoing for over 77 weeks in 48 prisons across the country—has become a powerful symbol of resistance against repression and executions in Iran. By sentencing to exile Saeed Masouri and other activists involved in this campaign, the regime is attempting to dismantle the core of this resistance. However, as the Gilan prisoners emphasized in their statement:
“Such actions will not silence the voice of resistance; rather, they will strengthen our resolve in the pursuit of justice.”
Full Statement of Gilan Political Prisoners on the Exile of Saeed Masouri and in Support of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign:
We, a group of political prisoners from Gilan Province, strongly condemn the sudden and unjust [sentence to] exile of political prisoner Saeed Masouri to Zahedan Prison.
Saeed Masouri, who has been imprisoned for 25 years in various prisons without a single day of furlough, is now being subjected to the continuation of the regime’s security-driven strategy of enforced disappearances, as seen in the case of Ali Younesi.
Exile to remote prisons such as Zahedan is an attempt to break the spirit of prisoners by isolating them from their loved ones and gradually erasing them…
We declare that such actions will not silence the voice of resistance; rather, they will strengthen our determination to stand firm and demand justice.
While condemning this forced transfer and exile, we express our solidarity with the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign and call on all political prisoners, families, and the aware and protesting public to continue this campaign creatively and consistently—inside prisons, outside prison walls, and in public spaces.
