In the 136th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, with a group of prisoners from Iranshahr Prison joining, this widespread hunger strike has now expanded to 62 prisons across the country. This protest action takes place at a time when the regime, in response to deep livelihood crises, has intensified the suppression of society and has executed at least 32 people in the first week of Shahrivar [late August 2026] alone. By standing up against the regime’s killing machine, the striking prisoners have demanded an immediate halt to these inhumane sentences and the solidarity of awakened consciences to confront the flagrant violations of human rights in Iran.

Iranshahr Prison Joins the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in its 136th Week
Expansion of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign to 62 Different Prisons
At a time when rampant inflation and the unprecedented drop in the value of the national currency have pushed the livelihoods and purchasing power of most segments of society below the poverty line, livelihood crises have expanded daily. These days, we are witnessing a deep economic and social crisis, and a class gap between a minority whose hands are stained with the blood of the majority; the ruling “Velayat-e Faqih” (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist) does nothing for the welfare and resolution of the people’s problems except trying to preserve its own survival and its dependent class.
On the other hand, to prevent protests by the fed-up people, the regime has resorted to severe suppression of society and prisoners. Consequently, we witness the execution of inhumane death sentences or the issuance of new sentences on a daily basis. The ruling oppressive regime has executed at least 32 individuals, including 2 women, in the first week of Shahrivar [late August 2026] alone.
Furthermore, a large number of those detained during the January 2026 uprising are sentenced to death or are at risk of having such a sentence issued against them; among them, we can point to the death sentences issued for 10 defendants in the “Meydan-e Shohada” (Martyrs’ Square) case of Isfahan, political prisoner Leila Abolhasani in Dowlatabad Prison of Isfahan, and also the confirmation of the death sentence of Ali Asghar Peighambari in Ghezel Hesar Prison. All of these dear ones have been oppressed without the right to defense and a fair trial, and their lives are in danger.
Under such circumstances, resistance and confronting the inhumane death penalty are highly crucial and necessary. Therefore, this campaign calls upon all political, human rights, trade union, and civil activists, as well as all awakened consciences across Iran, to confront and stand up against the killing machine that daily and without pause takes the lives of people, citizens, and political prisoners on bogus charges.
This week, a group of prisoners from Iranshahr Prison in Sistan and Baluchestan province also joined the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign; thus, this campaign has expanded to 62 different prisons.
