145th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 66 Prisons Across Iran

November 3, 2026
FacebookTwitterEmail

Political prisoners have launched a hunger strike in the 145th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, protesting the surging wave of death sentences and widespread repression. This comes as the mullahs’ execution machine continues to operate despite international condemnations and support from UN rapporteurs, with dozens of prisoners having lost their lives last week. Emphasizing the urgent need to abolish the death penalty, the activists of this campaign declared that no threats or issued verdicts will stop their determination to stand against this inhumane punishment.

Please find the full text of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign statement below:

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in its 145th Week in 66 Prisons Nationwide

In the 145th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, a wave of support and solidarity from prominent international figures and institutions has once again brought the voice of protest against executions in Iran to the world.

The declaration of solidarity and joining of this campaign by two UN rapporteurs, Ms. Andrea Bolaños Vargas (the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders) and Ana Lorena Delgadillo (member of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances), as well as the condemnation of the increasing executions by Alexis Anagnostakis, President of the European Criminal Bar Association’s Human Rights Committee, and the Human Rights Office of the Global Affairs Canada, demonstrate the growing global disgust with the death penalty in Iran. The era of medieval punishments has ended, and the international community, in unison with the people of Iran, demands the right to life, liberty, and human dignity.

Previously, other UN rapporteurs, Ms. Gina Romero and Mr. Leopoldo Maldonado, as well as other figures, had supported the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.

However, the machine of repression and execution continues to claim victims in Iran; in the first six days of the Iranian months of Aban (starting 23 October) alone, at least 25 prisoners have been executed, 22 of whom were hanged on 27 October 2026 and 28 October 2026.

Iran executed two young January protesters this morning: Amirhossein Maleki, 20, and Abolfazl Ebrahimi, 18, in the Alikhani Square case in Isfahan.
Nine defendants have now been executed.
Three more face imminent execution after torture-tainted trials and forced confessions.
Urgent action is needed. #StopExecutionsInIran

Simultaneously, the issuance of death sentences against political prisoners continues; Shahab Zohdi, who was arrested during the January uprising in 2026, has once again been sentenced to death by the executioner judge, Salavati, after his previous verdict was overturned by the Supreme Court. Imran Amani, a 21-year-old from Gonbad-e Kavus, was also sentenced to death on 24 October 2026 on charges of “moharebeh” (enmity against God). Furthermore, reports of death sentences issued for political prisoners Amin Pardal, Arman Marefati, Shayan Shakibaei, Matin Farnian, and many other convicts whose names have not even been released, have added to the concerns. We are the voice of all of them, because without defending the right to life, defending other human rights has no meaning. “No to Execution” must be placed at the top of every demand, slogan, and protest movement, and our hope is pinned on the brave people of Iran.

We, the prisoners participating in the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, declare that neither threats nor death sentences will silence the voice of protest against this inhumane punishment.

We demand the immediate cancellation of death sentences and the complete halt of the killing machine in Iran.

Members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign are on hunger strike this Tuesday, 3 November 2026, in the 145th week of the campaign in the following 66 prisons:

Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Evin Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Karaj Prison, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Varamin Prison, Choobindar Qazvin Prison, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langarud Qom Prison, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Isfahan Prison, Dastgerd Isfahan Prison, Sheiban Ahvaz Prison, Sepidar Ahvaz Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Nezam Shiraz Prison, Adelabad Shiraz Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Firuzabad Fars Prison, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (Women’s and Men’s Wards), Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Birjand Central Prison, Mashhad Prison, Gorgan Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (Men’s and Women’s Wards), Rudsar Prison, Havigh Talesh Prison, Azbaram Lahijan Prison, Dizelabad Kermanshah Prison, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, Ilam Prison, Kerman Prison, Borujen Prison, Nishapur Prison, Gachsaran Prison, Nur Prison, Iranshahr Prison, Bandar Abbas Prison, Ziabar Someh Sara Prison, Dareh Shahr Ilam Prison, and Meshgin Shahr Prison.

🇮🇷 #Iran [ESP abajo]

💪 I join #NoToExecutionTuesdays in the solidarity hunger strike for the human rights defenders that are being jailed and threatened with death for their work. At least 46 political prisoners and protesters have been executed in Iran since March 2026. More than 100 others remain on death row. The executions should end and those detained released.

I have begun my solidarity action in support of political prisoners in Iran and those participating in #NoToExecutionTuesdays
#hungerstrike

I stand with those facing persecution for their political opinions, expression and peaceful dissent, and reiterate my call for an immediate halt to executions.

#Iran On Tuesday the 13th, I am joining the ‘No Execution Tuesdays’ hunger strike.

The death penalty is being used against people for exercising their rights to freedom of assembly, association, and expression, as well as their political rights. 1/ https://t.co/Ld2kAj1Djq
