A young man identified as 23-year-old Yaser Salar Rashidi was hanged on December 19, 2017, in Zahedan Central Prison. He was found guilty of murder. The execution has not been made public by the state media.

Absence of classification of unintentional murders in Iran lead to capital punishment for everyone committed murder, intentional or unintentional.

14 prisoners have also been transferred to solitary confinement since December 17, to be prepared for executions in Rajaii Shahr Prison on Karaj, west of Tehran.

Two of the death row prisoners, Moslem Mohammadi and Mohsen Kamali are to be publicly hanged in Tehran. The two are convicted of robbery.

Five other prisoners are identified as Peyman Sheikhi, Amir Abbasi, Mohammadreza Ghara’at, Mostafa Chardouli, Amir Abbas Ardestani.

According to statistics registered by Iran Human Rights Monitor, 115 of the executions during the 11 months in 2017, were made public by the state media and 28 were carried out in public. 4 of those executed were under the age of 18 at the time of arrest, 10 were women and 2 were political prisoners.
