Death row prisoner of conscience denied medical treatment despite critical condition

Sunni Baluch prisoner Abdulrahman Sangani, who is detained in Rajaie Shahr prison in Karaj, was prevented from going to the hospital last week despite a severe eye infection which will lead to complete loss of his eyesight if left without treatment.

“Despite the fact that Mr. Sangani is suffering from a severe eye infection which has left him on the verge of blindness, numbness on one side of his body, and is in critical condition, he has been denied medical treatment”, an informed source said. “None of the prisoner authorities, especially the prison director, Gholamreza Ziaie, have not taken any measures to treat Mr. Sangani”, the source added. Abdulrahman Sangani had an accident before his arrest which left the left side of his body numb and he cannot control the left side of his body and loses his balance when trying to walk. He collapsed a few days ago severely injuring his face and had to have four stiches under his eye. He was sentenced to execution after being summoned to the 15th Branch of the Revolutionary Court on charges of enmity with God for supporting a Salafi group in 2009.
