Summary of Adopted Resolution at UNHRC – 15 April 2013
The Human Rights Council’s Resolution 22/23 addressed the human rights situation in Iran.
It extended the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Iran’s human rights for one additional year, requesting reports to be submitted to both the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly.
The resolution expressed concern over Iran’s lack of cooperation with previous requests and called on the Iranian government to permit the Special Rapporteur access to the country and necessary information.
It also requested that the UN Secretary-General provide the resources needed for the Special Rapporteur to fulfill the mandate effectively.
