Tehran Prosecutor, Jafari Dolat Abadi, at a meeting of the Council of Deputy Prosecutors on October 15, discussed the status of a number of prisoners charged with security offenses including Soheil Arabi, according to the state-run Shargh Daily on October 18, 2017.
“In addition to committing blasphemy, Soheil Arabi has other charges including insulting government officials, spreading propaganda against the government and publishing vulgar images and his sentence is being carried out,” Dolat Abadi said.
Jafari Dolat Abadi criticized those who support the accused prisoner, claiming his rights have been violated. “His initial sentence was execution but then the Supreme Court changed it to imprisonment. This confirms the independence of judges and the determination of the judiciary to issue verdicts based on laws.”
The Tehran Prosecutor also mentioned Reza Shahabi saying that one of his charges was “cooperating with a dissident group by gathering information and security news and sending it to the dissident group.”
