A grieving mother died from a heart attack on October 19 after her two sons were executed in Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz, southwestern Iran.
Her two sons were identified as 45-year-old Ali Mohammad Mohammadi and 38-year-old Islam Mohammadi. An informed source said after the execution sentence was carried out on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, their mother suffered a heart attack and passed away after being transferred to a hospital.
Hengaw Organization website reported that the two brothers were detained on May 29, 2015, after a tribal feud caused the death of 23 people in Potk Jalali village.
Citing a villager Hengaw wrote that “Security forces killed most of the people by direct fire. Now they want to execute locals whose charge has not even been proven to whitewash their own actions.”
Locals clashed with security forces after the execution of the two brothers, many others were detained, and at least five people were injured.
Iran has the highest number of executions per capita in the world.
In just one week, from October 11 to October 18, 2021, more than 16 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons.
To this day in 2021, the regime has executed 290 people, more than the total number of executions in 2020.
The actual number of executions is much higher than is known, and is largely unreported by state media.
