Saman Yassin, a rapper from Kermanshah who was arrested during the popular protests in Tehran in October 2022 by security forces, was transferred to Razi Psychiatric Hospital in Shahr-e Rey on the orders of Judge Salavati.

This political prisoner was transferred from Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj to Razi Psychiatric Hospital in Shahr-e Rey on Saturday, July 22, 2023, by order of Abolqassem Salavati, the presiding judge, without informing his family and loved ones.

A few days ago, Saman Saeedi complained about his continued detention and uncertainty in Rajai Shahr Prison, despite being detained for ten months. This political prisoner, who is mostly known as Yasin, had said in an audio file that Judge Salavati did not allow his lawyer to access his case.

Saman Yassin, a rapper from Kermanshah, was arrested onOctober 2, 2022,during the popular protests in Tehran by security forces using extreme violence. Since his arrest, he has been transferred several times between Evin Prison in Tehran and Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. Finally, on February 27, 2023, after a month in ward 209 of Evin Prison, he was returned to Rajai Shahr Prison.

The Iranian Judiciary News Agency reported on October 29, 2022, that a court hearing had been held for some of the detained protesters, including Saman Yassin, who had been accused of “waging war against God.” He was sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court, but the Supreme Court accepted Saman Yassin’s retrial and referred the case of this protesting singer to the Revolutionary Court for reconsideration.

The hospitalization of this political prisoner in Razi Psychiatric Hospital is taking place while he suffered a left nasal cavity rupture due to torture during interrogation but has been deprived of access to medical services until now.

Saman Yassin was subjected to severe physical and mental torture, including solitary confinement, detention in a room called the cold storage, severe beating, and throwing from the stairs of ward 241 since his arrest.

He has also gone on a hunger strike several times in protest of his harsh conditions in prison and the uncertainty of his case. On December 20, 2022, this political prisoner attempted suicide by taking a large number of pills due to the harsh conditions of detention in ward 31 of cell 10 in Rajai Shahr Prison. After being transferred to the prison infirmary and recovering somewhat, he was transferred to the prison’s political ward.
