FacebookTwitterEmail

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, coinciding with the first anniversary of the passing of Mahsa (Jina) Amini, twelve individuals were separately detained by security forces in the cities of Yasuj, Dehdasht, and Bahmaei, located in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. They were subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

The identities of the detained individuals during the protests marking the anniversary of Jina Amini’s murder have been confirmed as follows: Mohammad Hosseini, Benyamin Afraa, Alireza Foruhar, Samad Pourshah, Sam Bijan Nejad, Reza Moradi Nejad, Amir Nategh, Farzaneh Moeini, Mohammad Moeini, Farhad Cheramin, Daryoush Parisayi, and Davood Haddadi. This information has been verified by the Iran Human Rights Monitor.

Mr. Mohammad Hosseini, Benyamin Afraa, Alireza Foruhar, Samad Pourshah, Bijan Nejad, Reza Moradi Nejad, and Amir Nategh have been detained in the city of Yasuj. Farzaneh Moeini, Mohammad Moeini, Farhad Cheramin, and Daryoush Parisayi have been detained in Dehdasht. Additionally, Davood Haddadi has been detained by security forces in Bahmaei.

At this time, there is no information available regarding the charges brought against these individuals or the locations where they are being held.

It is noted that among these individuals, Benyamin Afraa and Alireza Foruhar had previously been detained and faced judicial proceedings due to their involvement in the nationwide protests of 2022.

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, which marked the first anniversary of the start of nationwide protests in Iran, scattered gatherings took place in various cities across the country. These gatherings were accompanied by widespread arrests in some Iranian cities. The security forces began detaining protesting youth in the streets of Hamedan, Arak, and Tehran, which eventually extended to include artists, women’s rights activists, and children’s rights activists. In addition to the citizens in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, a number of individuals were also detained in Tehran, Isfahan, Gilan, and Kurdistan provinces.
