Maryam Mehrabi, Sister of Political Prisoner Sentenced to Execution, Mahmoud Mehrabi, Goes on Hunger Strike in Protest against Unlawful Detention and Deprivation of Prisoner Right, including the Right to Communication and Visitation.
Based on the reports received by Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM), Maryam Mehrabi has been on a hunger strike for over two weeks. She is currently held in solitary confinement in the women’s prison of Dolatabad in Isfahan. Mrs. Mehrabi has been hospitalized multiple times during her detention. The inability to have visitation and communication has caused increased concerns for her family.

Maryam Mehrabi was arrested on June 18, 2024, and all her electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops, were confiscated. Mahan Mehrabi, the sister of Mahmoud Mehrabi, announced on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, that her sister, Maryam Mehrabi, has gone on a hunger strike and is in solitary confinement.
Maryam Mehrabi is a teacher and a resident of Isfahan. She is also a mother of two young children. The accusation against this political prisoner is her online activities and dissemination of information related to her brother. Mahmoud Mehrabi was arrested in connection with the nationwide protests in 2022 and has been sentenced to execution by the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan on charges of “corruption on earth”.
