August 7, 2024
FacebookTwitterEmail

Early this morning, Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the execution sentence of twenty-two prisoners who had previously been sentenced to death for non-political charges was carried out in Karaj’s Qezel Hesar Prison. These twenty-two prisoners had previously been sentenced to death for charges related to drugs, murder, and assault.

The identities of seven of these prisoners, who were sentenced to death for drug-related charges, have been confirmed as Ismail Sharafi, Mohammad Gholami, Abdullah Shahnavazi, Shahab Maleki, Rasoul (last name unspecified), and (unspecified first name) Ghanbari.

Four prisoners were sentenced to death for murder, three Afghan nationals for charges related to assault and violence, seven Sunni prisoners, and one individual with unspecified charges were condemned to execution by the Iranian judiciary.

These prisoners were transferred to solitary cells in Karaj’s Qezel Hesar Prison in recent days for the execution of their death sentences.

Until the publication of this news, none of the state media or prison officials have announced these executions, and these executions have been carried out in silence without any news coverage. Further details regarding this matter are currently being investigated by Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM)
