85th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 52 Prisons Across Iran

September 9, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the 85th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign will be held in 52 prisons across the country. This week, prisoners in Sabzevar Prison have also joined this protest movement.

Prison of Sabzevar

In this week’s statement, referring to the widespread wave of executions and the killing of Mehran Bahramian and two Sunni prisoners of conscience, it is stated: “Execution is a tool for the blatant violation of human rights and the suppression of freedoms.”

The full text of the statement for the 85th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is as follows:

Expansion of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign with the Joining of Sabzevar Prison to 52 Prisons in the 85th Week

With hearts filled with grief, once again we witness the cruel executions that not only violate the legal and human rights of prisoners but also wound the conscience of society.

The brutal and inhumane execution of Mehran Bahramian, a political prisoner in the city of Semirom, not only deprived an individual of the right to life but also ignited a fire of anger and protest in the hearts of his family and the noble people of this city. The dignified strike of shopkeepers and justice-seeking people of Semirom stands as proof that our people will not remain silent in the face of these crimes and will continue their struggle until their rights are achieved.

Mehran Bahramian

In another criminal act by the ruling religious dictator, under a news blackout, two Sunni prisoners of conscience, Eskandar Bazmandegan and Mohammad Kashefi, were hanged in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

Painful statistics show that since the beginning of Shahrivar (August 23, 2025), 92 prisoners, including 4 women, have been executed. The execution-driven government took the lives of 46 individuals in just the past week. According to reports, since the beginning of the year 1404 (March 21, 2025), 756 people have been executed, of whom 100 were executed in Qezel Hesar Prison alone-meaning that over 13% of executions have occurred in this single prison.

According to received reports, a group of prisoners in Sabzevar Prison, in protest against the wave of executions, have declared that beginning this week they will join the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign and will go on hunger strike every Tuesday.

Members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign wholeheartedly declare that:
Execution is a tool for the blatant violation of human rights and the suppression of freedoms.
They demand the immediate and complete halt to executions across the country.

The voice of this campaign is the voice of solidarity and support for all victims of inhumane policies in Iran. Until justice, freedom, and respect for human rights and human dignity are achieved, this voice will echo and multiply in prisons. We call upon all honorable and freedom-loving people, by following the example of the justice-seeking families and the noble people of Semirom, to raise the banner of “No to Execution” in every city and every street.

Life is a fundamental right of every human being, and no government has the right to take it away. Out of respect for the blood that has been shed, and out of respect for the families who are engulfed in grief and sorrow, we must cry out:

No to execution, no to dictatorship and oppression, yes to justice and the sovereignty of the people.
