Execution of at least 19 prisoners in various prisons across Iran

In recent days, at least 19 prisoners were executed in the prisons of Sanandaj, Ghezel Hesar (Karaj), Arak, Tabriz, Isfahan, Dezful, Qazvin, Shiraz, Zahedan, and Manujan With these executions, the number of prisoners executed in less than 20 days has reached at least 89.

Details of the cases

Tabriz Prison (Wednesday, September 3, 2025):
Two prisoners, Abolfazl Asgari (30, from Tabriz) and another identified only as Darvishpour (40), were executed on charges of murder.

Adelabad Prison, Shiraz (Date unknown):
A prisoner named Mohammad Kashfi (40) was secretly executed on security-related charges. His co-defendant, Eskandar Bazmandegan, had already been executed on August 13, 2025.

Qazvin Prison (Saturday, September 6, 2025):
Farzad Mohbi was executed on drug-related charges.

Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan (Saturday, September 6, 2025):
Three prisoners were executed:

Mohammad Bikar (34, from Kashan), imprisoned for murder.

Tahir Rasoulpour (from Bandar Anzali), imprisoned on drug-related charges.

Moslem Salehkani (married, father of one, from Isfahan), also imprisoned on drug-related charges.

Sanandaj Prison (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Azad Moradi (34, from Qelayawa near Baneh) was executed for murder.

Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Dariush Bahrami Geravand (40, from Kuhdasht, Lorestan) was executed on drug-related charges.

Arak Prison (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Two prisoners were executed: Ahmad Rafiei (from Arak) and another identified only as Gholamreza. Both were convicted on drug-related charges.

Tabriz Prison (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Five prisoners executed on drug-related charges:

Keyvan Mamadi (from Derik village, Salmas), Najib Azarm (from Kolankani village, Urmia), Tawfiq Ne’mati (from Bardizi village, Urmia), Houshang Hanareh (from Khilian village, Urmia), and Babak Omarzadeh (from a village in Urmia’s Bradost region)

Dezful Prison (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Taleb Tavakoli (37, from Dezful) was executed for murder.

Zahedan Prison (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Masoud Ghanbarzehi (38, from Goorband, Zahedan) was executed for murder.

Manujan Prison (Sunday, September 7, 2025):
Mohammad Mirbaloochzehi (46, married, father of four) was executed on drug-related charges.

Many of these executions are carried out without transparency, without guarantees of fair trial, and in some cases, in complete secrecy.

The extensive use of the death penalty, especially for drug-related offenses and vague security charges, constitutes a grave violation of fundamental human rights and stands in stark contrast to Iran’s obligations under international human rights treaties.
