The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has entered its 130th week as a group of prisoners from Neyshabur Prison joined, raising the number of striking prisons across the country to 59.

Coinciding with Tuesday’s hunger strike, more than 1,500 prisoners sentenced to death in Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison have also been on strike and protest for over a week to protest the issuance and implementation of inhumane death sentences. While condemning the recent rising executions in Qezel Hesar and Isfahan prisons, this campaign has once again emphasized its steadfastness for the complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran.

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign with Neyshabur Prison joining in the 130th week in 59 prisons
Strike of prisoners in Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison with more than 1,500 prisoners on death row
While condemning the rising executions in Iran, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign honors the memory of all executed prisoners, especially those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and the struggle against autocracy.
In the past week, the ruling despotic regime once again took the lives of four political prisoners named Aref Khoshkar in Qezel Hesar Prison and Mohammad Amini Dahaqani, Erfan Esfandiari, and Gol Mohammad Mohammadi in Isfahan Prison through the medieval method of execution.
These four oppressed prisoners, like many other political prisoners sentenced to death, were tried and executed in an unfair trial. May their souls rest in peace and their memory be honored.
According to reliable statistics, the number of executed prisoners since the beginning of the Iranian year 1405 (March 21, 2026) has been at least 280 people.
In opposition and protest to the inhumane executions, more than 1,500 prisoners in Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar Prison have been protesting and striking for over a week, demanding the abolition of the death penalty.
The prisoners of this ward are all sentenced to death, mostly on drug-related charges. It is clear to everyone that the importers and producers of drugs in Iran are the heads of the regime and the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and to cover up this blatant betrayal, they send people who have fallen into the trap of drugs due to poverty and destitution to the gallows every day.
Now, the prisoners of Qezel Hesar and the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign have stood up and resisted in opposition to the death penalty in Iran for 130 consecutive weeks.
In this regard, a group of prisoners in Neyshabur Prison also announced in a statement that they are joining the campaign; therefore, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in its 130th week, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is on hunger strike in the following 59 prisons:
