Iran’s Execution Spree Continues

February 17, 2025
FacebookTwitterEmail

Since the beginning of Persian month of Bahman (January 20, 2025), at least 54 prisoners have been executed in various prisons across Iran. This statistic indicates that, on average, nearly two prisoners are executed daily—one every 12 hours. In the latest cases, three prisoners were executed in the prisons of Ramhormoz, Behbahan, and Adel-Abad in Shiraz.

Execution in Ramhormoz Prison

On the morning of Saturday, February 15, 2025, a prisoner named Ali Kord was executed in Ramhormoz Prison. He was 31 years old, married, and a father of two. He had been previously arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death.

Execution in Adel-Abad Prison, Shiraz

On the morning of Sunday, February 16, 2025, a prisoner named Saeed Jokar was executed in Adel-Abad Prison, Shiraz. The charges against him have not been disclosed.

Execution in Behbahan Prison

On the morning of Sunday, February 16, 2025, a prisoner named Milad Farhamandi-Jo was executed in Behbahan Prison. He had been arrested and sentenced to death on murder charges.

Execution in Aligudarz Prison

On the morning of Thursday, February 13, 2025, Younes Kheirollahpour, 31, a native of Jolfa and resident of Tabriz, was executed in Aligudarz Prison. He had been arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.

Execution in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan

On the morning of Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the death sentence of Abolfazl Mahmoudi was carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan. He had been arrested four years ago on drug-related charges. His execution has not yet been reported by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated websites. With his execution, the number of executions on February 12 in this prison reached three, following the prior executions of Mehdi Shah-Bakhsh Pirsourani and Tayeb Javadi.

On February 15, the execution of 49 people in various prisons across Iran was reported. The increasing number of executions in Iran has once again raised international concerns. Human rights organizations have repeatedly called on Iranian authorities to halt executions and adhere to transparency in judicial processes. Many of these executions are carried out without notifying families and without fair trials, which constitutes a blatant violation of human rights.

Note: The statistics reported here are based on the Persian calendar. In our February monthly report, we will provide exact execution statistics aligned with the Gregorian calendar for accuracy and consistency.
