Political prisoners in 56 different prisons across the country continued their hunger strike within the framework of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, in protest against the continuation of the Islamic Republic’s execution machine. This widespread strike takes place under circumstances where the regime, exploiting the conditions of war, has intensified the implementation of death sentences, and the lives of dozens of recent detainees are in serious danger. The members of this campaign, emphasizing that justice is not born in execution halls, insist on their steadfastness and resistance until the complete abolition of the inhumane punishment of execution.

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 56 Different Prisons in the 120th Week
In the final days of the (Iranian) year 1404, when the Iranian people had risen up for the transformation of the regime in its entirety, the dictatorial sovereignty, by imposing a foreign war, was able to temporarily carry out widespread suppression of the society under the cover of war. Such that, in the shadow of war, it has executed 23 political-security prisoners from the beginning of the year 1405 (starting March 2026) until now. In addition to the execution of the prisoners, to harass and torture their families, the bodies of many political prisoners, including 6 members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign—Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Babak Alipour, Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, and Abolhassan Montazar—whose executions took place forty days ago, have not yet been handed over to their families. The two sisters of Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Azam and Akram Daneshvarkar, who had gone to the forensic medicine department and the judiciary to follow up on receiving their brother’s body, were also arrested by security agents on April 18, 2026, and transferred to an unknown location. This inhumane trend is a clear manifestation of enforced disappearance, which has also had a long history under this regime in previous months and years.
In continuation of this very repressive trend, the tyrannical rulers of the Velayat-e Faqih hanged three political prisoners of the January 2026 uprising, named Ebrahim Dolatabadi, Mehdi Rasouli, and Mohammadreza Miri, in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad last week. We had previously warned about the execution of these three political prisoners in the campaign’s statement on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, along with the names of several others.
Yesterday as well, another prisoner named Erfan Shakourzadeh was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison on charges of espionage.
Currently, many political prisoners, especially recent detainees, are in serious danger of execution, among whom one can mention Amir Mohammad Zare and Mohammadreza Abdollahpour in Ghezel Hesar Prison, and Ali Pishehvarzadeh in Lakan Prison of Rasht, and Baloch political prisoners Adham Narouyi, Farshid Hassanzahi, Hossein Shahouzehi, Nasimeh Eslamzahi, and Soleiman Shahbakhsh, who have been tried in an unfair and non-transparent judicial process.
Over the past few days, at least 100 detainees of the uprising have been transferred to Ward 37, Unit 3 of Ghezel Hesar Prison, facing overcrowding and a lack of basic living amenities, and the majority of them are also facing heavy charges and their lives are in serious danger.
The despotic and criminal regime, according to state media announcements, has confiscated the properties of dozens of protesting citizens, and with these diverse forms of suppression and unprecedented executions, it seeks to create an atmosphere of fear and terror in society to perhaps prolong its survival a little longer; however, the resistance and steadfastness of the brave people and youth of Iran in the uprisings and prisons have proven that this regime is doomed to go, and freedom and equality are closer than ever.
The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign also stands with all its might, in solidarity with the perseverance of the honorable people of Iran, until the abolition of the death penalty and the liberation of Iran, and this campaign has now become a symbol of resistance.
Every day of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is a day of keeping the collective conscience alive. Days in which the deadly silence is broken to make the cry of “life” heard by the world.
We, the members of this campaign, believe that true justice is not born in execution halls; it blossoms in the awakened heart, in education, and in fair courts.
