Home EXECUTIONS No to Execution Tuesdays Statement

The 122nd Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 56 Prisons Across Iran

May 26, 2026
FacebookTwitterEmail

Prisoners in 56 prisons across the country, in protest against the growing wave of executions and the confirmation of death sentences for protesters, continued their hunger strike within the framework of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.

This widespread resistance has continued while the regime, in order to suppress the voices of dissidents, has placed protesting female prisoners in Evin under double punishment and pressure by cutting off their telephone calls and banning visitations. Referring to recent global condemnations and the European Parliament resolution, members of this campaign called on the international community to take decisive and practical measures for the immediate halt of the execution machine and the saving of the lives of prisoners in Iran.

Please observe the full text of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign statement below:

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in its 122nd Week in 56 Different Prisons

The wave of political executions continues. Since last week until now, two political prisoners and Kurdish compatriots, Ramin Zalleh and Karim Yaghoubpour, and another young man named Abbas Akbari Faizabadi from the protesters of the January 2026 uprising, were ruthlessly hanged. Another prisoner named Mojtaba Kian was executed on espionage charges. An accusation which, as usual, without the right to a fair trial, led to the execution of these compatriots.

From left: Abbas Akbari Faizabadi, Karim Yaghoubpour and Ramin Zalleh

Based on received information, at least 72 individuals have been executed from the beginning of the year until now, of which more than 25 have been political-security prisoners. In addition to the enumerated cases, tens and hundreds of other nameless and unidentified prisoners are under death sentences in various prisons. In the recent week, the death sentence of political prisoner Manouchehr Fallah in Lakan Prison of Rasht was confirmed after being overturned again, and [the sentences of] Rouhollah Karaki in Sheiban Prison of Ahvaz and the death sentences of political prisoners Milad Armoun, Navid Najjaran, Mehdi Imani, and Seyed Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini, the defendants in the so-called “Ekbatan Town” case, have been confirmed, and their lives are severely in danger.

In the face of these executions, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign in the prisons has stood firm for one hundred and twenty-two weeks. Including the women’s ward of Evin Prison, who chant slogans every Tuesday in protest of these executions, and for this reason have been banned from visitations by the prison authorities and have been deprived of telephone contact with their families. The contemporary history of Iran is full of the resilient and militant figures of women who, for change, have even sacrificed their own lives on the path of freedom and equality and become immortalized, especially during the last decade in the uprisings of December 2017-January 2018, November 2019, the Jina uprising in 2022, and December 2025-January 2026, women have been one of the primary social forces in the ranks of the struggle.

The Justice-seeking Movement is replete with the names of women who have rebelled against executions and have played a serious role in advancing the no to execution movement. In the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign as well, resilient women in various prisons have always raised the voice of freedom and the right to life; therefore, the regime cannot even tolerate the voices of women, because misogyny is one of the main pillars of the ruling establishment since day one. In the recent week, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, and Amnesty International, along with many human rights defending authorities, condemned the wave of executions in Iran and called for its immediate halt in Iran, and in this same direction, the European Parliament also adopted a resolution in condemnation of the executions and the targeted repressions by the Iranian regime, calling for decisive pressure on this regime, and have asked their respective governments to condition any political interactions with Iran on the halting of death sentences.

We, the members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, once again call upon international human rights bodies and awakened consciences to prevent the continuation of inhumane executions by employing effective measures, and to stand alongside the people of Iran and their demand for freedom, justice, and the abolition of the death penalty in the tragedy of executions.

Members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign are on a hunger strike on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the one hundred and twenty-second week in the following 56 prisons:

Evin Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Central Prison of Karaj, Fardis Prison of Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison of Varamin, Choubindar Prison of Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langaroud Prison of Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Boroujerd Prison, Yasouj Prison, Asadabad Prison of Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan, Sheiban Prison of Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz (women’s and men’s wards), Nezam Prison of Shiraz, Adelabad Prison of Shiraz (women’s and men’s wards), Firouzabad Prison of Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Kahnouj Prison, Tabas Prison, Central Prison of Birjand, Mashhad Prison, Gorgan Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavous Prison, Qaem Shahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Roudsar Prison, Haviq Prison of Talesh, Azbaram Prison of Lahijan, Dizelabad Prison of Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Boukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, and Ilam Prison
