The 133rd Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 59 Prisons Across Iran

August 11, 2026
FacebookTwitterEmail

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign entered its 133rd week in protest against the growing wave of the death penalty in the country, and prisoners in 59 prisons across Iran went on hunger strike. Referring to the execution of at least 342 people since March 21, 2026, and the issuance of new death sentences for detainees, members of this campaign have assessed the government’s goal as creating fear and intimidation to suppress the voice of society. While expressing gratitude for civic and artists’ support, the hunger strikers called for public solidarity and the continuation of protests by various segments of society against the inhumane punishment of execution.

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in its 133rd Week in 59 Different Prisons

The executioner regime has executed at least 342 prisoners since March 21, 2026, until now, among whom 10 women, 2 individuals who were children at the time of sentencing, and 37 political prisoners can be seen. In the past week, two of the detainees of the January uprising in Shiraz, named Mojtaba Dehbandi and Kianoush Hamzei, have been sentenced to death. The judicial process for these two prisoners, like many other prisoners, has been unfair and non-transparent.

The ruling tyrannical government wants to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in society with these executions in order to suffocate any voice of protest. During this period, we have witnessed that a number of prisoners who protested against executions were transferred to solitary confinement or new cases have been fabricated against them. On the other hand, by opening collective cases such as Alikhani Square or Shohada Square of Isfahan, or Shandiz, or Esfarayen, and issuing death sentences or long-term imprisonment, they intend to intimidate society. But these tricks multiply the anger of society a hundredfold.

We, the members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, express our appreciation to all social strata, including artists, who in some way support the “No to Execution” campaign and the families of those executed. We continue to ask all the honorable people of Iran from various strata to protest against the unbridled executions in gatherings, like the retirees, and declare their unwavering support for the No to Execution movement and the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign.

The members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign are on a hunger strike on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in its 133rd week, in the following 59 prisons:

Evin Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Qezel Hesar Prison (Units 2, 3, and 4), Karaj Central Prison, Fardis Prison of Karaj, Greater Tehran Prison, Qarchak Prison, Khorin Prison of Varamin, Choobindar Prison of Qazvin, Ahar Prison, Arak Prison, Langaroud Prison of Qom, Khorramabad Prison, Borujerd Prison, Yasuj Prison, Asadabad Prison of Isfahan, Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan, Sheiban Prison of Ahvaz, Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz (women’s and men’s wards), Nezam Prison of Shiraz, Adelabad Prison of Shiraz (women’s and men’s wards), Firozabad Prison of Fars, Dehdasht Prison, Zahedan Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Borazjan Prison, Ramhormoz Prison, Behbahan Prison, Bam Prison, Yazd Prison (women’s and men’s wards), Kahnuj Prison, Tabas Prison, Birjand Central Prison, Mashhad Prison, Gorgan Prison, Sabzevar Prison, Gonbad-e Kavus Prison, Qaemshahr Prison, Rasht Prison (men’s and women’s wards), Rudsar Prison, Havigh Prison of Talesh, Azbaram Prison of Lahijan, Dizelabad Prison of Kermanshah, Ardabil Prison, Tabriz Prison, Urmia Prison, Salmas Prison, Khoy Prison, Naqadeh Prison, Miandoab Prison, Mahabad Prison, Bukan Prison, Saqqez Prison, Baneh Prison, Marivan Prison, Sanandaj Prison, Kamyaran Prison, Ilam Prison, Kerman Prison, Borujen Prison, and Neyshabur Prison.
