Political prisoners across 66 prisons nationwide went on hunger strike for the 142nd consecutive Tuesday, emphasizing their continued resistance against the regime’s killing and execution machine. This strike continues at a time when the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, concurrent with intensifying crackdowns and deadly tortures, has accelerated the issuing and upholding of death sentences for political prisoners and young protesters. Members of this campaign, while welcoming the expression of solidarity by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and Association, called on international bodies and the awakened consciences of the world to move beyond verbal condemnations and take immediate, practical action to stop the cycle of executions in Iran.

Continuation of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in its 142nd Week in 66 Different Prisons
UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Association Joins the “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign”
Last Saturday, October 10, 2026, was the World Day Against the Death Penalty. We commemorated this day while at least 2,230 people have been executed in Iran between October 2025 and October 2026; including 54 women, 47 political prisoners, and 4 children. These figures narrate lost lives, bereaved families, and a society that faces the dread of death and repression every day.
This week, the death sentence of Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared, a 23-year-old political prisoner and student, was also upheld by the Supreme Court, and his life is under threat more than ever before.

This week, we witnessed insane repression and violence by the regime, such that a 17-year-old teenager named Omid Ghanouni was arrested in the city of Khansar in Isfahan Province, and the next day his body was handed over to his family, while signs of beating were evident on his body. In the same vein, another citizen named Farid Makari was arrested in Mashhad and killed after extensive torture. Additionally, over the past week, the executioner regime executed political prisoners in Damghan and Omar Darastaran, a Baluch citizen.

Furthermore, the issuance of a death sentence over the past few days for Ali Zakani, a 19-year-old political prisoner, is another example of the heavy shadow of the noose over the lives of those who are sentenced to death in the regime’s kangaroo courts and whose lives are placed in peril of destruction.
This week, the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Association, Ms. Gina Romero, expressed support and solidarity with the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign. Her support is a great encouragement for prisoners who, under the shadow of execution threats, stand up for human dignity.

We, the members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign,” who for 142 consecutive weeks have been crying out that no human being should fall victim to the gallows, call upon all awakened human consciences, international organizations, and human rights defenders to go beyond verbal condemnations and take action to establish an immediate and practical mechanism to stop executions in Iran. In these dark days of repression, do not leave the Iranian people alone.
The members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign” are on hunger strike on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in its 142nd week across the following 66 prisons, in the hope of a free Iran devoid of torture and executions:
