Summary of Adopted Resolution at UNHRC – 3 April 2012
At the 19th Session of the Human Rights Council’s, the adopted resolution 19/12 addressed the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It expressed concern over Iran’s lack of cooperation with previous UN resolutions and reports that highlight human rights violations.
The resolution appointed a Special Rapporteur to investigate and report on the situation in Iran, both to the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly.
It also urged the Iranian government to fully cooperate with the Special Rapporteur by granting access to the country and providing necessary information. Additionally, the resolution requested that the Secretary-General provide the resources needed to support this mandate.
