Mahmoud Beheshti Langroudi, the former spokesperson for the Teachers’ Association in Tehran, who went on leave on February 2, went back to Evin Prison after the end of his prison furlough. Beheshti was sentenced to gathering and conspiring against national security and acting against national security in two separate cases and was sentenced to prison.

During the past years Mahmoud Beheshti Langroudi has been arrested time and again for his guild activities. He was the spokesman of the Iranian Teachers’ Trade Association before being sentenced to five years in prison in 2013 on charges of “colluding against national security” and “propaganda against the state” in a trial that lasted less than eight minutes.

Mahmoud Beheshti Langroudi was released from prison on May 11, 2016 due to his deteriorating health condition after a 22-day hunger strike. However, he was threatened multiple times to be returned to prison.
