A judiciary official announced that 30 people were arrested during the vigils and protests over the Iranian military’s shooting down of a Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 people on board.
During a news conference today the judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili announced that 30 people have been arrested so far during the recent protests, Iranian judiciary’s Mizan news agency reported.

The demonstrations broke out after the Iranian military on Saturday said it unintentionally shot down a Ukrainian plane last week, killing all 176 people on board, after denying for days that it was responsible.
Several people have been wounded as the state security forces fired ammunition and tear gas to scatter demonstrators in Tehran and other cities.
Tehran’s police chief in a statement on Monday denied that shots were fired during the protests and that officers were under orders to show restraint. “At protests, police absolutely did not shoot because the capital’s police officers have been given orders to show restraint,” Hossein Rahimi said.
Meanwhile, reports of riot police and security forces shooting rubber bullets at protesters came from Azadi Avenue in Tehran.
A video shows bloodstains along the pavement and a woman being carried away as those around her cry out that she has been shot in the leg.

Several videos circulated on social media show security forces firing teargas into the crowds of protesters.
Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752, was shot down on Wednesday near Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran shortly after take-off, and only hours after Iran had fired missiles at two air bases housing US forces in Iraq.
Dozens of Iranians and Canadians, as well as nationals from Ukraine, the UK, Afghanistan and Sweden died on the plane.
The Iranian government for three days suggested that the plane crashed because of a technical failure. On Saturday, after other nations found evidence that the Iranian military was to blame, authorities admitted that it accidentally shot down the plane the plane.
