Iran arrests 60 young partygoers in mixed gender party in north city

Iranian police have detained 60 men and women at a mixed-gender party in the northern Iran, the state-run media have said.

The state-run ROKNA News Agency said in a short report that the 60 men and women were mostly young and were dancing in the party at night in a village in Khoshk-e Bijar. The report said that the partygoers were referred to judicial authorities.

The regime regularly attacks private mixed gender parties across the country and arrests party-goers in an utter disregard for the privacy of its citizens in attempt to clampdown “corrupting influences”.

Hundreds of people have been detained in private mixed gender parties in the past year.

The state security forces stormed three mixed gender parties in the northern city of Sari in August 2019 and detained 35 young men and women.

Before this, Iran’s state-run media said that 52 people were detained on August 24 in a mixed gender party in Sari

In another report, Iranian police briefly detained two European diplomats at a mixed-gender party, the state-ryn Tasnim news agency reported on June 1.

A British and a Dutch diplomat were released the same day after being identified as foreign government workers. Tasnim said the party in the capital, Tehran, was attended by several men and women.
