Mohammad Ashtiani denied vital medications in the Central Prison of Karaj.
Prison guards and clinic staff in the Central Prison of Karaj widely and systematically distribute narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs among inamtes. However, they refuse to provide the most vital medications to Mohammad Ashtiani.
Political prisoner Mohammad Ashtiani has a heart condition and needs to take special medications every day. The Karaj Prison’s clinic staff, however, have refused to hand him the vital medications he needs.
The head of the Central Prison of Karaj has also ordered to prevent giving him the medications his family puchases for him.
The prison’s clinic has told Mohammad Ashtiani, “We don’t have any medications.”
Mohammad Ashtiani has to take five special tablets for his heart condition every day.
By depriving him of vital medications, the prison authorities of the Central Prison of Karaj are torturing political prisoner Mohammad Ashtiani.
Mohammad Ashtiani, 57, is married with two children. He was a political prisoner in the 1980s. He was arrested in March 2019 by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence.
His charges include “propaganda against the state,” insulting Ali Khamenei, and supporting the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. He has been sentenced to three years in prison and a heavy fine.
