Since the beginning of February 2025, at least 37 prisoners have been executed in various cities across Iran. In the latest cases, three prisoners, including a woman, were executed in the prisons of Gorgan and Sari, two prisoners in Kermanshah, and one prisoner in Khorramabad.
On the morning of Thursday, February 6, 2025, Mahtab Qazizadeh, a 47-year-old woman and mother of two, was executed in Sari Prison. She had been arrested 3.5 years ago on charges of murder and sentenced to death.
Meanwhile, two prisoners were secretly executed in Gorgan Prison. These prisoners, Abdolhamid Kohkan, a 26-year-old Afghan national, and Gol Mohammad Gorgij, a Baluch citizen, were executed on the morning of January 5, 2025. They had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges. However, their executions had not been publicly reported until now.
Additionally, two other prisoners were executed in Dizel-Abad Prison in Kermanshah on February 5, 2025. Saeed Gholami, 27, and Mehdi Ahmadi, 33, both single and from Kermanshah, were sentenced to death in separate cases on murder charges. Their executions were carried out that morning.
Furthermore, another prisoner named Hamidreza Shahmoradi, 39, from Gonbad-e Kavus, was executed in Parsilon Prison in Khorramabad on the morning of February 1, 2025. He had been arrested three years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
